Day 2 - Messina, Italy

We had breakfast in the Diamond Lounge. At 11am we arrived in Messina in Sicily - the harbor is protected by a Holy Madonna on top of a tower. We had signed up for an excursion, where we visited the cathedral as well as the associated museum with many very valuable relics of gold and gems. At 12 o'clock there was a 'show' in the church tower with music and figures moving. Have lunch at a cafe by the cathedral. We also took a trip along the coast to the Strait of Messina and visited a fishing village - in fact, we should have just gone on a tour of the city on our own. Back on the ship we enjoyed a Cafe Latte, after which we read.
