Day 1 - Civitavecchia Departure

Stayed three days pre-cruise in Rome.
Were up early - had breakfast before packing the last in the suitcases. Checked out at 09 am and walked the 500 m to Roma Termini. The train to Civitavecchia departed at 10:12 - an hour's drive for kr 35. Always forget how difficult it is to find space for luggage on the train, but managed to find a few vacant seats and get luggage stowed off the road. At the station in Civitavecchia there was chaos - the lifts did not work and there was only a very narrow and steep staircase from the platform - many people with a lot of luggage. We chose to walk the 600 m from the station to the port entrance, from where a bus drove out to the cruise terminal - incredibly bad signage and poor service. The same was true when delivering luggage and security in the terminal - organization is definitely not the strengths of the Italians. Well on board we got our cabin - had to contact technical service to fix problems with toilet and cabinet door in our cabin. It was arranged while we had lunch in Windjammer. We unpacked and at 4pm there was mustering exercise. sailed at 5pm, after which we walked up to the lounge to get a drink before dinner - onion soup, fried salmon and apple pie with ice cream. We ended the evening with some entertainment around the ship.
